Nice article. It was cool for them to tip their hats to the Big Block and ZR-1 heritage too.

It's amazing that GM will be selling a car that isn't legal to drive on any NHRA sanctioned track. Sub 12 seconds timeslips mandate a roll bar with the NHRA.

The performance of the car exceeds my estimate of what it would do...I expected 122-124 mph in the 1/4 ...one of those time when I am happy to be wrong

I believe that was relaxed to 11.5 last year b/c production cars are getting so fast. Even at 11.5 the new Z06 will get the boot when some of these forum guys get ahold of them.

NHRA rule changed in 2004 to set new lower limit at 11.50. Faster than that requires rollcage.

That will still present an issue for the C6Z because some owners who accumulate the 40-50 passes needed to get themselves dialed in will easily run under that 11.50 lower limit.

Does anyone know how these braking stats compare to the C5 ZO6? I thought it was very close to an SRT 10.

That's good news. I went out to the Texas Motorplex 2 years ago to hit the 1/4. I got in one pass of 11.70 @ 124mph and got kicked off the track for no roll bar.

I guess that should be the goal this year for new ZO6 drivers. An 11.49 timeslip and booted off the track for the night.

Ranger, did you get yours yet? I thought delivery was Aug sometime? I was number three on my local dealers list, but they have told me the likley hood of them getting three is pretty slim. They think they can only get one. What an awsome car, words are hard to come by explaining this car to someone.

On another note (not to get off topic) in my sig, I did get a 1.53 on the BFGs after about 95 passes. I also got a warning for 11.04 Et and no roll bar, but no boot.

I am going to wait for the same day testing of the Ford GT and the Z06, but I predicted a long time ago the Z06 looked to have the ability to take down the Ford and it appears that it will.

I also like C&Ds little verdict in the side bar. If GM could only get the rest of the corporation to pull its collective head out of its a**, they probably wouldn't be in such problems. Hopefully this Z06 stays around a while, but I am concerned with the price point, still.....

With 550hp and a race inspired mid engine design, it's going to tough to "take down" the Ford GT, especially on the road course. Not that I wouldn't love to see that happen.

I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record on this topic, but I would think that the complaints on feel, predictability, and steering feedback will likely be taken car of when/if Michelin PS2 tires become available for the car. I don't know how many on the forum have made the switch on the C5 from the runflats to good high performance tires, but I noticed a major change for the better in road feel when I made the switch.
