Default Crane 1.8 Gold Race Rockers

Installed a set of the Crane Gold Race 1.8's. The installation does take alittle time due to lifter bleed down and thread lock curing time. The rockers are very well made and provide an increased lift of .035". I do feel an increased seat of the pants feeling, but will verify the dyno result on the 28th of August over my baseline listed in my sig. I hoping for 10rwhp but who knows.

They were around $775.00 including overnight shipping. What you get is the rockers, 7.25" chromemoly push rods, push rod guide plates and all the studs and adjusting nuts. I purchased them through Corvette Garage in Texas.

Did these rockers add or remove any valvetrain noise.

Thanks

When was your last dyno done? Was wondering if you are going to run into the same results that I did. My before install dyno was in Nov and my after was in July. I guess will see if any real gain this fall.

Here is the weather history in Nov 2004 when I had the first dyno. 58.7 °F and 83% humidity at 12 noon.

Here is the weather history for July, 2005 76.5 °F and 80% humidity at 2100hrs

As far as valvetrain noise, I didn't think mine was real bad to start with. Either its the same or a little quiter and I'm used to it already.

With a correct tune you should get about 15 rwhp. About 20-22 rwhp on a 427. Due to higher lift, less friction, etc...

Much more importantly, you will get 10+hp/torque across the entire rpm band. This is really what makes you go fast.

The stock rockers were reused after my cam swap with new springs and chromemoly pushrods. The noise then was not noticable. With the new roller rockers there is some noise. I think the valve lash adjustment is fairly critical. The directions that come with the rockers are junk in terms of telling you absolutely everything in no uncertain terms. I went to the VHP website that is awesome in explaining everything Crane doesn't tell you. http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...TRUCTIONS.HTML

As far as valvetrain noise, I didn't think mine was real bad to start with. Either its the same or a little quiter and I'm used to it already.
My last dyno tune was done in early June, a good day 65 degrees around mid morning. The numbers were after my long tube header install and we had to lean the A/F ratio back to 13:1. I was pleased with the result 25rwhp and 30lb/ft. of torque. My valvetrain noise is there, but not objectionable. Like I said above, I believe the valve lash adjustment is very critical. I was surprised about the 2 full turns, 1/4 turn 8 times every 10-15 minutes. It is what it is. I notice a bigger seat of the pants feeling, but we will see on the 28th when I have it redynoed. I will post the results here. The next mods. I have in mind will be done probably over the winter AFR 225cc heads and a smaller combustion chamber to get me to 11:1 compression approx. 62cc. I would also like to grab the FAST LSX intake so I am looking at around +$3K more to finish when all is said and done. If I burn a piston or if I break something major, then a larger displacement will be the way I go. I plan on staying naturally aspirated and in the 600-700hp range.
