I want that mustang sound! sorry guys
I love my c5 but I just love the rumble of a mach mustang,I was wondering what kind of exhaust would get me that sound,I have installed a corsa indy pace car and it isnt what i want,If I were to install a x pipe would it sound better? or scrap the corsa and go with another exhaust altogether . thanks and sorry for the comparison.

I had B&B route 66 cat back sys with no cats and shorty headers on my 97 M6, IMO it sounded like a mustang with Flowmasters, I guess thats why I replaced the route 66 with the PRT sys, now sounds like a Harley with straight pipes

You want some bullets or stingers The indy's are a Euro sound to me, Hi pitch. Sound good but not a low rumble. I have the Route 66's with headers and it's still to mild for me. Maybe you can find what your wanting here.LS1 Sounds

I have an '03 GT and, totally stock, the tone still sounds better than my vette despite all the exhaust mods I've done to the vette including headers, hi-flo cats, x-pipe, cutouts and Ti exhaust. One of the fundamental differences is the firing order. I'm afraid to put an aftermarket exhaust on the Stang for fear of making the vette sound worse than it does - and it doesn't sound bad. Here's a driveby video.

Keep in mind, part of that tight tuned sound you hear from a ford V8 is created by the small exhaust vavles they have =/ But yea, I know what you mean...i love the sound of a cobra with flowmasters..

I could live with the sound of your vette patches, nice ride, but I do like the mach sound, guess i'll just have to keep my corsas, but by adding an x pipe will that do anything for my sound?

Adding an x-pipe wont do much at all.
I think you need to add a more aggressive cat-back.
I have had an
89 GT with headers, O/R h-pipe and flowmasters
96 Saleen with O/R H pipe and Borlas
98 Cobra w/ FMS shorties, Bassini X-pipe and flowmasters.
I loved the way all of them sounded. I like the sound of my C5 the best. LT's, x-pipe w/ stock cats, and B&B PRT's.

The late model Mustangs do sound really nice, I might have to buy one. Patches is right, the firing order is the main problem with the LS1 sound. I'm still not sure what to do with mine...

patrick has it right, the firing order is the culprit, my 5.0 and my 4-valve Cobra both had that low pitched rumble that Ford is known for.The 351-W has the same firing order as our Ls1s
