C5 AVN 5435 install...large file.. Dial up beware
ok, here are the pics of my install. Because I had it professionaly installed I didnt get pics of the fusion components in the front doors or pics of the rears either.. they were able to fit the double din inside the 1 1/2 din by shaving the top slightly and the bottom as well.. IM pleased I didnt have to move the AC controls.
Here is the overview pic showing nav
a little closer up showing the EQ settings
here is a pic of it open
pics of the amps
picture of the sub
all cleaned up
just a cool pic

Former Vendor
GettReal,
Can you take and post some more photos showing the install extremely closeup so that I can see exactly how and where the surround was trimmed? Also, if you learned anything about the install or would do anything different if you had to do it again please enlighten us.
Thanks!

A nav is my next project, yours look real good, I can't see where you said it was shaved, can you get a close up pic so I can see it better. I think I want to get mine professionally done also and I want to at least know what needs to be done (as far as looks are concerend). Great job.

Yes me too! Want to see the close ups. It looks like they just shaved the cross bar down about half way. I am very anxious to see close ups of that and the top area. Thanks!

double din in din.5
How about those close up pics?
I would love to see this too, when you say they shaved the top and bottom, did they modify the receiver at all or just modify the fascia?
Thanks,
Ryan

Damn man!
Post some pics, or I else I will be forced to buy this head unit and find out for myself! When my wife asks why, I'm going to tell her it's because you refused to post pictures and I had to find out for the forum!

I've been telling people all along it is possible to fit this unit. They didn't need to make big cuts in the trim to make it work.
One question, where are all you buying the unit from? I want this unit!

Anybody wanna chip in on a plane ticket for me to Canada? I'll find that car and take some close up pics myself! Or, I'll find the car, steal the head unit, install in mine and then take some pics.

Crutchfield and Eclipse
Crutchfield carries Eclipse now, they have the AVN-5435 for 1,699.00.
It has always been said that Eclipse units have to be dealer installed to get a warranty on them. Usually if a dealer installs, the unit is eligible to be covered by a 3 year warranty. If you just buy through Crutchfield and install yourself, it is 1 year. If you buy a unit on e-bay, you are going to pay 1500-1600 anyway for a unit that may not be from an authorized dealer, and warranty may not apply. Crutchfield is an authorized Eclipse dealer. So for me, when I buy this unit, I will buy it through Crutchfield for $1,699. Not worth $100 bucks IMHO to take a chance from a dealer that only offers a 90 day warranty because they are not an authorized eclipse dealer.
Crutchfield also carries the AVN-5495 for $2,399, which is an upgrade to the 5435. It has a 30GB Hard Disk Drive, 10GB is dedicated to the navigation and 20GB can be used as an MP3 jukebox.
If you can find one, the 2454 (last years model) is basically the same unit with 2.5v pre-outs instead of 5v, they can be had new in box for about $1,100 online, search for AVN-2454
Hope this helps,
Ryan

No what I meant to say was, other people have installed the unit and had to cut a lot out of the trim. I've seen one other install, besides this one, that looked very clean and OEM. I've saying all along you don't need to cut a lot off the trim to make it fit, as this thread also showed.
Here is a pic of the other one I found.
