Default Anyone running Royal Purple Motor Oil???

The good, bad and ugly if you got info on it? Thinking of using it instead of the Mobile 1.

One thing i recall reading on the RP info sheet was their motor oil keeps your cylinders "polished." Not sure i like the sound of that! To me that means some type of abrasives. But i could be wrong. I've always used M1.

I saw an episode on Horsepower TV where they added Royal Purple Motor Oil, Gear Oil, and Coolant...The results were an 8whp gain on an LS1 Camaro.....For under 100 bucks, going Royal Purple is a good idea

Be careful of the claims. In the past Royal Purple would not do comparisons against synthetic oils. Four years ago when I owned a Merkur we did comparisons between Royal Purple and Quaker State Syn and found no significance difference. The results showed that Royal purple was 2 RWHP down to Quaker State but gained 2 RW Ft. Lbs of torque. Not significant in my mind.

RP is great oil, a little pricey .. IMHO my vote goes to M1 or Amsoil.

I find it hard to believe that an oil & coolant change could increase hp!

I've used it, transmission fluid, and rear end fluid since my car was new and it is a very good oil. My car is a daily driver with as many HPDE's as I can afford.

I have worked with Dyson Analysis on my used oil analysis' at every change interval to ensure that RP has been doing it's job and my wear metals are in check.

It will work very well if you decide to use it.

Default Running RP for last year or so

Haven't had any problems - according to my track temps it compares well with the Redline I was using and it's a few $ cheaper. I change it every season change so about every 4 months unless I do a lot of track days. I may switch back to Mobil 1 though haven't used it since they came up with the new formula's - made hype but I'll give it a try.

AMSOIL has started including Royal Purple in their comparisons. Don't have one for motor oils yet, but here is one which includes Royal Purple's motorcycle oils which may help:
