Cargo cover flapping? Another possible solution

Cargo cover flapping? Another possible solution
With the top off the cargo cover flaps in the wind. Forum members have suggested trying a steel rod..... That was inflexible and maybe a little heavy. Some have tried a plastic tube and filled it with BBs.
We are trying this: bought a 1/4" plastic covered cable and pushed it in the seam. Plastic protects from scratching and is flexible enough and heavy enough to work. Tried it this afternoon and seemed to work great.

I snaked a small chain, 4 feet of it, through the seam on the bottom of the flap. The chain is sold in the Lowes hardware and is just small enough to fit in the seam. It costs about $.70 per foot. I then just sewed a couple of loops of thread through the last link on each end to hold the ends in place. It is flexible and works great. I did not think of the cable. With the cable, the ends would probably stay in place without adding anything else.

Hey Michael (accidentprone):
Maybe another idea for you to develop???
It would be great to have soemthing to keep the cargo screen bottom from thrashing around when the window is down?
Thanks!
Rob

cargo flap
i realize this is rather simple and might not satisfy what you guys are looking for, but i just pull it on top of the top (between the hatch cover and car top and shut the lid-effectively sandwitching is down between the two. Obviously, you can still see under the back from the front but whos looking under it while you are driving and the flap is certainly not stoping stuff from sliding forward. this eliminates anything flapping as it is in lockdown. If cosmetics are a problem when stopped just lift the lid and let it back down until you are ready to go again.

I use a 43" fiberglass rod from Home Depot - it was the groundpole for a cheap driveway reflector - tossed the blue reflector, used the rod - 5/15 dia I think.
