Default Aluminum Body Cushions?

I ordered a body mount kit for my '72 Vette and it came in today. When I opened the package there were no cushions! Just these aluminum spacer looking things. So I called Corvette Central and asked them what was up. They told me that '68-'72 had aluminum body cushions.

I have poly cushions under my '82's body and it rides a little ruff, but aluminum cushions must be horrible. So I was wondering if anyone's changed these to rubber or poly and how the ride is on aluminum body cushions?

Just replaced them on my '69. The ride should be just a bit smoother. They raise the body about 3/8 inch, but not a problem for me. The only glitch I found was the seat mounting cable under the car was just a little short with the 3/8 inch body raise. It's the cable under the car that attaches to the rear frame rail. I was able to get the cable on, but it is real tight. Hope it doesn't squeek.

Nice, thanks for the tips. I bought the car with the intention of doing a frame-off so I never bothered to get it running so I have no idea how it rides LOL

I'm replacing the body mounts on my 1968 with repro shims, etc. I will be using the large aluminum shims. I don't want to upgrade to the rubber shims of later years. I drove my 1968 for many years with the aluminum shims and I didn't have any problem. I don't want to use the rubber shims and elevate the body the 3/8 inch. My stock shims are just really great for me. Yes, the body may sqweek a little with the aluminum, but with my sidemount exhaust I won't notice the noise!!!i

... The 1968 Convertible has a lot of body flex. The body really shakes on a rough road.
