Default Oil pressure gauge is pinned to max

My oil pressure stays pinned to max pressure and does not move even with a oil change. Can anyone tell my why? thanks.

The same thing happened to mine a couple days ago.
When I posted here about it, I was told if you turn the key to the "ON" position and the oil gauge still shows press., it is a bad oil press sending unit.
Mine showed around 50 psi oil press. with the key on and motor not running.
I have one on order from Fred Beans as we speak.
The local Chevy dealer here wanted $80 for the sensor, which was well over twice the price I ordered it for!

Yes.. You've been hit by the all too common "oil pressure sensor failure". If you are mechanically inclined, you can swap it out yourself; you do have to remove the intake manifold to get to it though.
