Default Royal Purple Synchromax Manual Transmission

I was thinking of, putting Royal Purple Synchromax, in my Z06. I wanted to ask people, who put this in there Z06 already, how it improve there transmission. I also like to know, people who had it in longer than four months, if it still working better, than the stock transmission fluid. Thanks for your time.

http://www.rpmoil.com/shop/welcome.html

I just purchased 5 quarts from this place above. Ordered it monday, and received it tuesday Free UPS shipping in the US, and they're selling it for $7.29 a quart (they added a handling charge but the total bill ended up at $43 for 5 quarts shipped. Not affiliated with them at all, just happy that they shipped it out so quick at a decent price......

To answer the original question/s.... it works great, makes a huge, noticable difference in the smoothness of shifting...... and it hasn't changed in the year and a half I have had it in... Hope this helps...

Hi dfwroadkill
Did you made a swap from a synth fluid (Mobil1 or Red Line for exp) to the RP or the difference was from the OEM fluid to RP ?

So, I'm assuming that it holds 5 quarts?

It supposedly takes 4 quarts, but just my luck it would take a little more, so I decided to purchase an extra one.

As a note, the Royal Purple Synchromax transmission fluid is not a Dexron III fluid. The C5/Z06 manual transmission requires a fluid that meets Dexron III specifications. This is usually an ATF. Royal Purple does have a Dexron III ATF.

This is the AMSOIL product that I use (and it is an ATF):
AMSOIL ATF

The C5/Z06 manual transmission will take about 3.75 quarts. I've never needed more than 4... but then again, I've never knocked one over either.
A hand pump which screws onto the bottle makes it a little easier to get the fluid up into the tranny.

Default Royal Purple Max ATF

Royal Purple Max ATF, Meet Dextron III specs, but don't think you can use that one in the manual transmission. Synchromax, doesn't say if it meets Dextron III specs. Will Royal Purple Synchromax do damage to the transmission, cause it doesn't meet Dextron III specs?

Royal Purple recommends Synchromax for vehicles requiring Dextron III stating:

"........ Royal Purple's Max ATF® is formulated exclusively for transmissions specifying a Ford Mercon® / GM Dexron® III type fluid.

For manual transmissions and / or transfer cases specifying a Ford Mercon® or GM Dexron® type ATF, Royal Purple® recommends either its Max ATF® or for greater performance, its Synchromax®."

It's been in mine for a year and a half with no problems... the only difference is a much smoother shift.

If you aren't comfortable with it, you've got an AMSOIL salesman just above.... Your call...

Thank you dfwroadkill to make this point clear, I had the same kind of feeling when I swap from the OEM fluid to a synth Brand.
Next step will be to compare how is the the feel of the shifting with differents aftermarket synth Brands...

Don't have my manuals handy... but I thought that GM recommends the ATF for our cars.

Me too, are you saying that putting RP into the MN6 will make it shift better or faster????

I don't want to be a doubting thomas, but think this may be mind over matter, I find it hard to believe that an oil would improve the shift quailty so much that you could notice it. But I have no experience here and may be wrong, If I am please politely say so

I'm not sure what's missing here, but....

you can use RP's Max ATF.... it does meet Dexron III requirements... or as stated by RP, "for greater performance, its Synchromax"... both are for tranny's requiring ATF, both meet Dexron III requirements, the Synchromax is simply the higher end product...

I'm done...
