Painted Cowl...Hmmmm...(pics)
I'm not sure I like it.
The paint match isn't that good, the color is noticibly darker...this could be all of my dissatisfaction, but I'm not totally sold on the overall look.
Oddly enough, my fear was that it would look bad from the outside with the hood closed...but now that seems to be the view I like best.
I'll probably repaint it after the Cruise-in. Maybe I'll change my mind about it then.

Mil Yellow is a really funky color. Easy to match in one light, but tough as hell to match in all lighting conditions. This overcast day really exploits the mismatch.

It looks good but, I've never been a big fan of painting areas that weren't meant to be painted from the factory. With time the paint just flakes or chips.

I'm glad that you be at the CI as I'd like to see it.
Been thinking of doing the same (Pewter) but just don't know.
Haven't really done anything under the hood but clean so far.
On the Pewter I think even a glossy black vs. that bumpy plastic.
By the pics yours really looks pretty good.

I think it looks good. If you are not pleased with the color match, try it again. With the right match, you'll have a very look.

I'm by no means a perfectionist like so many here are. I'm typically satisfied with "good enough".
So for sure...if I don't like it, it definitely ain't good enough.
It can be fixed though. There's a bright side to everything.

It looks good. But when it was stock, it did not distract from the engine
compartment. Now it does (IMO).
None the less, a beautiful engine!

If it were me, I'd go with the carbon fiber overlay. My engine is all carbon, so that would complete the look for me.
What about painting it gloss black? It would give the contrast of the factory look, but with more snap. Just a thought. If that piece isn't real expensive, buy another one and give it a shot.
