You're running the 3.15 gears, correct?

What mph does it shift out of 1st and out of 2nd?

It sounds like going to a higher stall converter might
not help you if you already have bigtime traction
problems with the stock converter.

Wow great runs!

Can you list all your mods and if you have a Z51?

lpe head and cam corsa sport they have a complete list on web sight, they could not put oh headers and high flow cats I will soon ad them and have lpe re tune and install 3.42 or 3.73 gears then add some tire for track but keep runflats for road there nice to have on long trips,

Very impressive blue racer. I set of headers and high flow cats should really wake it up. Probably hit high 11's.

Those are great ets!

And in no way is this a slam but more a curiosity: I
think your car should be getting higher trap speeds
than you observed.

I say this because I input your dyno numbers from the
LPE graph of your engine into my drag simulator,
which I've dialed in to model my C6 (Z51, 6spd), and
it suggests your trap speed should be in the
neighborhood of 119 mph. Of course this is on a
6 spd version of the car with a 3.42 rear gear but
the automatic shouldn't be 5-6 mph slower.

From your dyno graph, it appears most of the power
gains from the LPE package appear above 4000 rpm.
From this fact and from your gearing, it sounds like
a steeper rear gear might do wonders for your car.

I'll try to model your 3.15 auto in my simulator
tonight and see what et/mph it predicts with the LPE
engine.

Try break torqueing the car to 1,000rpms next time.

thanks for the info I did talk with gram about my runs . he has found some more things in the brogram that are trying to protect trany at start that he did not know at time they did my car. most all cars off the line would jump me till the first 1/4 to 1/3 track then I would blow by them! this is part of being the first c6 they have done , they are working on the solution. they have been great to work with ank keept there word every step of way . It wont be long and they will have it leaving the line like it shood. thanks for info would like to see auto simulators #s

Sounds like you had a good day at the track BlueracerC6, your times are very respectable.

I wish I could have gone, but I couldn't get away from the shop. When you get your headers and tuning updates done, I'm thinking it will be a lot faster

Default For Ed

Ed my car is at LPE for head and cam package and Yank 2800 Stall converter. The black c6 Auto Z51 coupe . Engine to be removed today.
Based on what Blueracer is telling us,do you still feel a converter is a good add? I hope tuning update come soon, I am picking the car up May
24 .

Just for fun and not to claim simulations are better
than real dragstrip runs, here are some simulated
runs for a couple of different corvettes. All simulations
assume a total car (+driver) test weight of 3410 lbs,
which might be high or low and they have a bunch of
other assumptions modeled. The torque and hp data
I derived from the GM graphs of the LS2 engine vs
the LS6 engine.

Again, the times and speeds shown below are
predictions by a computer simulation of the car, not
real times and speeds.

base C6, Z51, 6spd - 12.7 @ 113.6 mph
base C6, auto, 3.15 - 12.8 @ 110.5 mph

To simulate the LPE package in blueracer's C6, I took
his dyno graph and grabbed the rear wheel torque
values "before" and "after". I converted the resulting
rwhp to fwhp by correcting using his "before" data. It
looks like he has a 16% drivetrain loss. I converted
the "after" rwhp values to fwhp using the same 16%
loss and observed the result to be 495 fwhp, about
what LPE claims for the package. Using this data, I
resimulated both a 6spd and an automatic and finally
an auto with a 3.42 rear gear.

LPE C6, auto, 3.15 - 12.45 @ 115.6mph
LPE C6, auto, 3.42 - 12.30 @ 116.3mph
LPE C6, Z51, 6spd - 12.30 @ 119.4mph

Based on the level of accuracy a simulation offers and
the potential variance in the many parameters
simulated (weight, temp, humidity, driver, etc) I'd
say you're pretty close to where you should be.

Time for headers!

Perhaps the tires are the weak link to the traction problems. Solid sidewall tires cannot be advantageous at the drag strip.

I would imagine a good set of rubber would decrease the 60' times and result in a WAY better et and greater mph.

Blueracer stated he is spinning the tires until 70 or so mph, is he simply stomping the accelerator and hoping for the best? Maybe some practice launching and possibly feathering the gas pedal will help the car hook up? Just thinking out loud and offering .02 cents

I am curious about what Ed@Lingenfelter says about the Yank 2800 stall convertor. It appears f355c5 has some concerns about his new car and the advantages/disadvantages to the Yank convertor.

Love the new C6. Maybe after I get off the turbo Buicks (equivalent to CRACK for drag racers) I can step up to the plate and purchase a car that actually LIKES to turn.

Good luck to all and happy drag racing.

Well, I have to admit, my method of gathering the
engine power data leaves a lot to be desired in the
LPE case so I'm far less confident about the LPE
simulation numbers. The base numbers look pretty
good though.

Also, in the simulation, I am basically modelling your
launch technique of flooring the gas pedal at about
800 rpm.

If you had stickier tires, you could brake torque the
engine which would drop your et. Also, if you had the
traction, a higher stall converter would drop your et.
But it all depends on the tires I think.

My stock automatic C6 Z51 ran 12.5s at 112 on stock tires with 100 miles. The top end kit should be faster? I'm a big fan of LPE. Had their motor in my C4. Planned on sending my C6 to them for this exact upgrade.

I think better driving would help my times but we have a glitch off line it is bearley spinning tires at start but once we get moving you realey feel power then it starts to shead the tires I do not think it is as responsive off the line as stock. but it was to cold to take it to track. It is like night and day after lpe mods after talking with gram I am sure they will fix the glitch.
