Some More Cool Photos Of C6 Z06 Stuff From Bg
For those of you who could not attend this years C5/C6 Bash, I took some pictures of some cool C6 Z unique stuff that I saw while I was there. GM rolled out the C6 Z06 demo frame and I grabbed some cool photos to show you how the new car is put together and unique. I hope that they give you an idea of how the car is different and unique.
ALUMINUM FRAME MULE!
FRONT OF THE ENGINE IN THE FRAME
NEW TRANNY AND REAR! Check out the STRENGTHING RIBS!!! The rear diff now has an oil cooler that is cooled by an oil to oil cooler that is cooled from the tranny oil.
OIL RESOVIOUR.
More on the next post!!

The following shots show the permently bolted on magnesium roof panel It is held inplace with 10 fasteners. I wonder how long it will be before the aftermarket segment comes up with a removable roof kit??? PUT ME ON THE LIST!!!
FLOOR PANEL. The old floor panel was balsa sandwiched between fiberglass. This one is suppose to be balsa but I dug my finger nail in it and it felt like foam. The sandwich panels are carbon fiber. I picked up a sample panel and that SUCKER had to only weigh 3-4 lbs if that much.
This years bash was not as good as last years bash! Last year GM allowed us to FULLY examine the cars! This year the cars were LOCKED and magicaly no one seemed to know where the keys were!!!
From a very reliable source, it was reported that the interior and functionally of the dash and electronics was NOT fully ready so GM wanted the cars to remain locked.
I had a blast and have my sights on am 07 DSOM Z06. The price is supposed to be released in early JULY. Hope it is in my price range!

I was near the garage door where they store it as they were rolling it out to take it to the front display area. I offered to drive it around for them! They said I could help push!
I wondered the same thing about driving it stripped. That would be too cool. Fastest go cart on the planet!

I wish I would have known you were there, I was on the far side of the cutaway chassis while Dave Hill was talking and like you I really wanted to see the way the roof panel attached to the rest of the chassis.
I was planning on keeping my top in place but alot of other people that are curious about the top being removeable had me curious so I had to check it out and after seeing the three aft brackets that are welded to the halo bar made me a believer that this is going to be a fixed roof coupe, it would take someone who can weld aluminum (I can't) to experiment.

i've been wondering.. why does the main hydroformed tubing that goes over the top of the car look all crumpled? Is that really the best shape?
my instincts tell me it would be much stronger if it did not have all those weird dents in it.
