Default DIC says "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" You Better w/pic

There were a few post concerning active handling/cruise control. I put one in last week, got no response, drove 200 more miles, still ok, didn't think there was anything wrong. Started a 2,000 mile trip from Denver to Phoenix last week, got 150 miles west of Albuquerque, out in the desert, cruise control wouldn't hold, the the DIC lit up, Vette starting bucking....or like running out of gas. Went away for a while, another 100 miles came back worse, called up GM Roadside Assistance, being the Vette was still running told me the next service for a Corvette was Prescott Az. There is nothing out thar way, the Vette was running, but every once in a while would buck bad. Got 1/2 mile from the dealer and that was it. The dealer, Lamb Chevy was the best, sent out the best tow truck. The driver took a good 1/2 hour getting it on. The dealer gave me a new Caddy loaner to get to Phonex. Next day called me, Bad Sensor, checked it out completely, alls well. Drove back to Denver with out a problem. I guess we have to pay attention to the DIC or pay the price. But why does it have to happen in the most desolate part of the world?

Or you can think of it as lucky, since it sounds like you stop near a great chevy dealer that know how to take care of their own.

Thanks for the pics, good to hear all is well.

Default Pain

Sounds like a real pain but could have been much worse. Gald it worked out. Did you find a place to open it up in those desert miles?

Couple of times had to pass a truck or two, most truckers are cool, if the road was clear I give them a passing signal, and cruise politely bye at about 120mph. Got to be careful, need my license. Will Email you back.

Had the same problem. Got the tow truck ride to the dealership but once it was there they could not pull a code. What sensor did they replace? Steering or speed sensor? And do you know what code it gave?

Looked at the repair order: Replaced Crank Sensor FP#12560228 and had to be 'relearned'w/tech 2
Sensor2.383
Several people have had this problem. This should probably posted in FAQ section. My VIN # is 17362 born 2/15/05
Could not locate code # unless someone knows where it is on the repair order.

A local dealer checked the code and said mine was caused by a bad steering wheel angle sensor. Got the part ordered. Shutting the engine off and restarting has seemed to clear mine.
