Sweet. Is that the current stage of the work or are you already done? Your car looks great in your avatar.

ya did a good job on the photoshopped pic. I had to zoom in with PS closely to tell I had to look at it a couple of times till I noticed the chrome has a different light source on them.

Ive been at your stage of modification before on other cars.....man its hard to get over that "hump" of completed mods so you can do another mod without screwing it up or vice versa. It looks like you're shaving your mirrors too, right? Or maybe replace it with some little billet ones?

that is some serious hard work doing that job. Is that a PPi amp, 6X50 watts perhaps?? What speakers do you plan on installing? We stereo addicts need more info and pics

i dont want to sound rude and the work looks good, but is there a reason why you have the 6.5s so close together on the dash? you might not have that good of stereo separation if they are that close together for imaging...

i didn't want to deal with mounting speakers in the doors so i decided to put the 6.5 and 4 in the dash...i had to make a new das h anywyas cause i have digital gauges now..... i will be mounting the tweets somewhere else...... also, when the speakers are in kicks or doors and are mounted too low, the sound is absorbed in the carpet and the persons leg/clothing......mounting in the dash lets the sound travel along the windshield.

Purly constructive criticism as well. If you've gone this far, make some kick panel pods as well and make it so that you can fade between the dash and the pods. That 6 channel amp can handle it.
If decide you do that, sit in the car and locate the point between the seats around a foot in front of where your head will be and around ear height. That is where you should aim the pod speakers at.

only issue then is that the c3's have very little leg room and all the kicks i have done in the past always get jacked up from passengers.... i tried to do the door last year butwhen i was finished molding in the pods in the doors for the 6.5" they were coming out of the door about 2"... the doors are thin and u can't really tuck a speaker in there due to the glass and all that other stuff. i did what i could with the setup i bought........ i'm sure the spl/imaging might be an issue but it was hard just trying to get it all in and try tom make it look nice and clean and not all over done (rice style)....... hopefully once it's done it will turn out nice but until then your guess is as good as mine.......

would simply angling the speakers away from each other and forward sightly help?

onaqwst, could you send me a couple of pics of the footwells? Like a closeup of the kicpanel area and a close straight on shot showing the distance between the pedal and the kick panel? Try to get a ruler in the pic to show size.
I think it can be done.
It worked in my C2 anyway.
I'll try to get a few pics of my settup. I need to borrow a digital camera and figure out how to send them first. I still live in the 35mm Nikon world.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Without a doubt you will have the stage height(sound were it should be). You might be okay with seperation. The mid and tweet will cover a huge part of the frequency range and you plan on putting the tweeter towards the outside, right??
I got the PPi guess right If you do have seperation problems, it can be fixed with crossovers. Make sure the 6.5" only does below 100 Hz, in other words, make the crossover point between the 4" and the 6.5" at 100 Hz. Keep me posted

i'll try to get some pics and put them in my gallery or just send them..... the only thing i will do at this point with the dash setup is maybe change the angles of the speakers with new trim rings and fill them in...... i am trying to get this car done in a month...i've been on it for two years now.....rebuilt motor/rear end/suspension/body work..... i really don't want to back step since i've spent alot of time and money on this setup now........ i need split back seats to finish the interior other than fabric and paint...... the components have an external crossover for each side......

onaqwst, take your time. Everyone gets ansy in the spring. If you have that green vette, drive it and take your time on this one. 2 years is not very long for someone who has the ***** to do this kind of work themself.
