Set a new best 60', but couldn't better my other bests...
Went to Etown today..it was like a rental-empty! This was my 2nd outing on the ET Streets...
My 60' times were :
1.78, 1.75, 1.70, 1.66, 1.66, 1.64, 1.71, 1.72, 1.68..
I was trying different clutch releases (slip vs. near dump) & launch rpm's (5000-5700). I pretty much kept the psi @ 16...
Early on the car was bogging down to 3500rpms, while the last 3 runs I think the clutch may have been slipping a bit, as the rpm's would linger @ 4300 as the car was leaving, then it would drop a bit before rising again. All the runs were made within 2hrs.& 15minutes w/ 2 breaks.
My Et's were:
11.77, 11.75, 11.77, 12.0 (missed 3rd too!), 11.79, 11.75.
3 runs I got out of due to a missed shift or a 60' I didn't think was going to be good.
The MPH were high 113's to low-mid 114's. The first pass was 117.2
The car is definitely more consistent w/ the ET Streets & overall I'm pleased w/ the day, but I was expecting to better my best of 11.62.@119.03 w/ 1.68 60' on DR's., but I didn't. Strangely enough I was only behing my best by .06 at the 330' mark, but that day the car just pulled better... I don't know what the DA was, but it was 46* w/ 65% humidity. The barometer was announced but I missed it.
I'm puzzeled how my mph was down from previous trips to the track. I'm assuming it's from the ET Streets gripping more as depicted by the better & consistent 60' times. I've been experimenting, but I feel I've been launching well w/ just a slight slip & flooring the gas & I can't get the 60' down to a 1.5x...Maybe the stock clutch is the limiting factor???
The weather may have played a role in all of this, but I plan to have ECS check my tune on their laptop to make sure all is well with that..
My goals for the car are a 1.5x 60' w/ a 11.5x @120...Maybe I'm setting too high a bar for myself, but you have to have something to strive for, right?? Any feedback is appreciated!
Ron

Want some feedback? YOU SUCK!
The stock clutch IS a limiting factor. I'm surprised that you haven't fried it yet. I think it only took about a dozen passes on BFGs for my stock clutch to give out. You should start researching aftermarket clutch options. You WILL need a new one soon.
1.5X 60' is not going to be easy. Basically, it may happen if all the stars align for you and you'll hit that one-off pass. I'm not saying this is because of your driving, I just think it's a tall order for a stock Z06. My car was putting down 385 rwhp when I started dipping into 1.4X 60'. Anyway, you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. 1.6X is an excellent short time.
What did your car dyno?

I dynoed 370rwhp, but that was w/ only about 3500 miles on the clock. I've recently eclipsed 13K & I've read that these cars gain hp after some mileage...
Oh, I'm not ashamed, just a LITTLE frustrated...
I know, I know-you're kidding!

Dude, it's obvious that your driving is above average. You're only 15 rwhp behind my car. Get a better clamping clutch and you should definitely be within your 1.5x goal.

I figure a better clutch would work wonders, but I didn't want to do that, until it was necessary....hopefully not any time soon.

You call that consistent? You varied by .04........
....come one, step it up. Make them vary by .004 and then we can talk....
....just kidding brother. Actually .04 is very good.

Don't worry, you will have it down in no time. I just can't believe that the stock clutch made it with the near hot lapping. My stock clutch did great as long as I didn't run more than two back to back runs(But that was on DR's). I'm sure your clutch was slipping some with the heat you were generating. I just had to replace my SPECIII and bought a new one from MTI.. This MTI SPECIII is a dream compared to the one I bought on EBAY. My first one was a tad cheaper but it was made differently and it chattered to no end. But anyway, I still think YOU can pull a 1.5x with the stock clutch if you don't fry it first. Goodluck!!!

Nice going Ronnie and you drove home. Your starting to get the hang of it. Your times are are looking real consistent and that at close to max effort which is tough. The reason for the lower mph is the tires are grabbing more and the clutch is likely slipping some. I think the bfg's were the optimal tire for your hp and your clutch. With the etstreets you definitely need a new clutch and might want to bump the hp 10-20 to take advantage of the tires. Also, when the barometer is as high as the 30.5 the mph goes up as the car is making extra power. 30.0 and 30.5 is a huge difference in barometer and power the car makes.Temp and barometer are the 2 biggest factors affecting DA and hp.
I'm glad you did well, wish i could have joined u to help compare.

John who??
Thanks for the kuddos guys..
Rob, I may have mis-reported the barometer. They announced the baro pressure as a burnout was starting & Imissed it, but he did say it was FALLING. I edited the post because I guessed the baro by what it was when I got home, which was a few hours later...Yes, I'm beginning to get the feel for the ET Streets. As far as the DR's, there was just no real consistency on them. My 60' times were all over the place. At least w/ the Et Streets I now know a slim range I should achieve...
I've got the launch down, but still think I could get a 1.5x & better my best ET under the right conditions....A little more practice w/ an experienced observer at the line for feedback on the launches should do it.

That is one pretty, and FAST car! Are you shifting full-throttle? If not, you could pick up 2-3 tenths shifting peddle to the metal. I bet that car has surprised a few people on the street.
