"Why Can't We All Just Get Along?" Tsunami Relief Crawfish Run!
EDIT: PLEASE PAYPAL YOUR MONEY TO kjun@cajundude.com AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IT IS NEEDED TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF FOOD. The event is this weekend. Thanks!
I've decided to consolidate the three threads into one, so here we go!
UPDATED ATTENDANCE LIST BELOW!
This will be a big meet for all of us to have fun with all the extra proceeds going to the Tsuami Relief Fund. I will keep a running total of all monies collected and spent and post below. I've received several emails saying that they would throw in extra if it was for charity so shall it be!
Here’s the deal. I am planning the First Bi-Annual “Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?” get together. Bi-Annual because something this fun shouldn't happen only once a year! It will involve Corvettes and Lightnings. Depending on how this one goes, I've already got bigger plans for the next one which will be for a different charity. I will coordinate everything and volunteer my time to take care of all the particulars. This will also be a CRAWFISH BOIL! I will do the boiling for everyone.
When: May 7, 2005
Time: I will be there at 10:00 to start setting things up. I've reserved the pavilion from 12:00-8:00.
Where: White Top Pavilion next to the NASA boat launch on Clear Lake. The address is 5001 NASA Road 1, Seabrook, Texas 77586. The phone number is 281-326-6539. We will have our own fenced off from the public parking area. I counted 72 spots. There is also plenty of more room if we need to double park some cars. This parking area will be for Vettes and Lightnings as well as one or two surprises that may be showing up. If other cars are there, parking will be available only feet away at a parking lot 10 times as big. There is also a large pit there available for our use. Tom has volunteered to do the pit cooking should anyone not like crawfish and brings something to throw on. The pavilion area is also fenced off with its own private basketball court. Open to the public is a volleyball court. There is also another gate that leads into the main portion of the park where there is a kids playground.
While I wish I were a billionaire, I am not. I expect the cost of this to be $15 per person. I really don’t think it will be more than that. Excess money is explained later in this paragraph. I plan on having the money go into my PayPal account. Money can be monitored below. I will keep a running total here. Personal checks are welcomed because that would mean less PayPal receiving fees incurred. Email me for my mailing address. I will provide my office address and phone number should anyone want that to feel safer. Any money spent or received is immediately reported to the forum so everyone knows the running balance. For example we may need to put a deposit on the beer or the crawfish, purchase the spices, etc. This will be on honesty. If you show and up and eat for free that will take away from paying members so please don’t do this. I am only going to purchase an amount of crawfish comparable to the people that paid. It will also most certainly take away from the extra charity relief we are trying to provide. Kids are welcome and there should be no charge for kids. The excess money we end up with will be donated to the Tsunami relief in the Corvette/Lightning forums names. I will send a money order made out to the Tsunami fund to a moderator of each respective forum and that way you’ll know it gets done.
My email is kjun@cajundude.com. Post here or shoot me an email if you want to go to this one or have any suggestions how to make it better. It will be fun!
Lets get this list started as soon as possible so I know how many people we are looking at having in attendance! This is VERY IMPORTANT.
Again, personal checks will be deposited and transferred to PayPal account. That way I will use my PayPal debit card for all of the purchases and receive the 1.5% money back or whatever it is. If you mail a personal check please include your forum name with it so I can list it on this thread.
There have been requests about bringing things aside from the $15 donation. I would say bring a bag of chips or a 12 pack of sodas, ice chests, ice, etc. I will post by the members name who has volunteered to bring extras and take off this list what is already being brought. For the boil we will also need the following: lemons, lemon juice, mushrooms, asparagus (if it is cheap enough at the time), lots of newspaper. I'll add if I think of other things. If any of this is not brought I will purchase out of the funds received. Quanities of these items will depend on the amount of people. It is very important we have a head count as soon as possible. We will need a constable out there so if anyone knows a constable in Precinct 8 that will want some free crawfish and hook us up that would help. Otherwise our constable fee will be around $160.00. NO BOTTLES/GLASS ALLOWED IN PARK.

T-Shirts Are Ready to order if you want them! See details below. Remember you can get them personalized.
These are not necessary for the run. They will not make money for me or the fund, I just thought it would be neat to have. Also if you want a shirt with your forum name instead of the date on the front area email me directly with your forum name and I will set it up and email you the jpgs. (kjun@cajundude.com).
I set up a store at an internet place. I was thinking of bumping the price up a couple of bucks and of course letting ya'll know because the extra money would go into the fund. I've decided against that because I don't want to have to worry about putting that down as income on my 2005 taxes. In any event the tshirts won't raise enough money to warrant it. Since I am not going to do it we have a couple of options now. You can order a t-shirt straight from the online store I set up or you can create your own and just buy it directly yourself. The ones on the online store have the date on the front and back. If you customize and order yourself you can put your forum name on the front.
You can go to the storefront HERE. Or just email me with your forum name and I will email you the jpgs to make your own. Instead of the date on the pocket you will have your forum name. You can then just go to www.cafepress.com and create and purchase yourself.
Hope to see you there!

A couple of suggestions:
We all know the fickle Texas weather.
1. Is there way of having a rain date (as an alternative)? I know this may throw a wrench into the economics, so there may be no way around this.
2. Should not this post be placed on to the other Forum(s)? I.e., C5, Z06, C4, etc.

Hey Cajundude, what do you think...knowing you, you already have a plan though---you're a good planner.

Yes, I was thinking about the rain date today actually. I think cancellation would only cost us $25.00 on the park reservation. Lemme ponder it some more and I will throw out a date. I will need to go check all of the clubs calendars and I will come up with one soon.
As far as the other sections on the forums...already done. I bump the post to the top on a weekly basis in many places.

Jason...one more month! Tom and I are looking forward to it. We have a couple of family trips to take in between and after the date. You chose well on the date!

I second that for sure!
Jason, you're time dedicated to the thread itself and organizing this great event for the 'vette family' get together is plain awesome and want to thank you!!
Harvey and I have marked our calendar and you will get out $$ soon.
