Anyone know if there's a easy way to get both the low and high beams to work together when high beams are turned on?

Are you serious? You trying to blind someone?. Why would you want to do this?

Since I don't drive with my high beam on when there's oncoming traffic, the answer is "no, I'm not trying to blind someone". I use my high beam when required and not when there's oncoming traffic.

I'm sure you can do it with a relay or two, but, the aiming is so weird with the stock lights, it's probably not that effective.

Switch to H4 bulbs ( euro ) for a economical solution.

There was a post about a year ago that showed how to do this.
It is not to difficult to do. a search should show this thread. I think I printed it out and may have it saved. I will see if I can find it. I'am going to do this Mod also.

Must be something that can be done to get better lighting!!

This 98 has the most pathetic excuse for headlights, it's the worst of my four road cars, and that includes an 85 C4!!

I just installed a set of Silver Stars, but it will be another month before the weather let's me drive .... I hope they help!!

I did the mod to convert 9005 Silverstars to low beam 9006's.Its an easy task to do ,just cut or file the 2 ribs in the 9005's down (insde of socket) & modify one tang slightly.Just look at your 9006's & its easy to figure out.Then simply put them in the low beam sockets.The result is a deffinate improvement over the standard lighting!

That sounds like something worth looking into!! That'll put 65 watts of light on the low beam side of things. I'm guessing that with the low beams being aimed lower, there's no problem with glare to oncoming cars???

The lighting is ,believe me,is a significant improvement for less than 1/10 of the cost of true HID's. Do the math 300 to 600+ $ for true HID's,or this 30-40$ mod.But remember I had the SS 9006's & was somewhat disapointed with the improvement.So IMO you need to modify the 9005's to fit the low beam sockets & youll see a marked improvement over any 9006's.Maybe some other 9005's will do also,but make sure they are a good brand like Nokya, or the one LAPD sells to make this mod.Beware I had the 100w 9005's ones at Best buy & they only lasted me a month ,so would'nt recomend those.
This IMO this is the least expensive bang for the buck, & easiest way to remedy the ,IMO & yours, the grossly anemic lights for a high end flagship car like our C5 Cors.

But I'll admit to you I've never driven a C6 in the night so its difficult to compare this lighting against these vehicles. ATB Geocor...

Never once was flashed by oncoming motorists w/ this set up.But was when I added "Eurolights", & the BB brandI was!,& if you are thinkg of the Cool Blues by ,I believe by Sylvania too ,you might as well toss your money in a Charity can,tried them too,forget 'em,infinatetessimal improvement!

Sylvania Silverstars is what I used. Any reputable brand of hi-intensity bulbs could possibly be = to ,or maybe better than.GE is marketing their HO version now ,called Nighthawks.Seen them at Walmart ,& they're even cheeper than the SS's.Could give them a try & tell us how they stack up against the pathetic stock lighting.I like others here on the CF have been experimenting to get the lighting on our C5's up to snuff to where they should have been from GM.I know someone will say "Well thats how they kept the price of the C5's so reasonable."But we know now thats just a BS & SA line,'cause how come the C6's have HID's & the price of them are about = to the C5's?

All I can say in summary is stick with name brands,avoid the off brand ones at Walmart ,Pep Boys ,theZone ,Best Buy,etc.,they wont last more than a few months,& wont give improvement.Believe me I tried several,including the worthless Cool Blues & this method of coverting 9005 to fit in low beams is head & shoulders above any other "HID like" 9006's.

I have not done this on my Vette but have done it on my 03 Silverado. On the trick it was a simple matter of tying the trigger on the high beam relay to the trigger on the low beam relay using a 12 volt diode. That way when you put the high beams on it will also trigger the low beams. On the Silverado both relays are located in the fuse box.

I tried this the other day simply because I had a burnt out 9005 and only had 9006's in the garage. The 9006 didn't seem to fit as tightly into the head lamp socket, it's a little loose. Is this your experience?

Rather than use the adapters they list you can just cut off the two raised ribs where the buld connects to the wiring harness. This is necessary since the 9005 bulb only has one rib and the two ribs interfere with the harness.

The o-ring that they replace may resolve my issue with the loose fit.

The only other potential issue I've heard about with this mod is the extra current causing the harnesses to get hot.

You would need a diode to pipe the power from before the high beam relay over to the low beam relay, this way my HB's LB's and foglights will all be on at the same time. If you do not know what a diode is, think of it as a 1 way gate for electricity. This way, if you do not have the diode and have the low beam relay on, the jumpered relay will turn the high beams on anytime the low beams are on.

I havent done this yet but intend to do it someday. This mod is popular on trucks.
