Default Anybody familar with Beaver Springs IHRA track?

They are an IHRA track in central PA. They advertise that they do track rentals on Friday and Saturdays at $300/clip for three hour blocks up to 10 cars.

I emailed them and they said Fridays are wide open. For $600 bucks for 6 hours split up to 10 ways a pretty good deal if the track is OK. Any feedback

Times are 10AM, 1PM, 4PM.

Thanks

PS - If you go to the website and go to 2004 race results and look under the May 28th race results you see a vette that went 207.8 MPH with a 427 and a single turbo!!

That looks like a bit of a hike. But I'd be willing to try out a test and tune with you or anybody else to check it out if no one knows about it. If its decent I'd go for the rental. There are probably some hardcore racers out there in no-mans-land...Think they have plumbing out there yet?

They have the track rental days listed:

Beaver springs is a well kept, family owned, all around fun place to race. I recommend it. The car you are talking about is Andy Jensen's. He owns 2, 6 sec vettes. The older one has gone 6.66 @ 211. The newer, turbo car, has since gone 6.20's at over 216. Both are small blocks and both ran those numbers in "street" trim. He is a local, respected, engine builder. Jesse Azzato frequently uses this track to tune on the test and tune rental days. Again, I recommend this place. Very layed back and caters to the customer.

Great Feedback. I was thinking of doing a Friday Rental for 6 hours either 10-4 or 1-7 if a few folks would be willing to make the journey. Maybe right before the pro-8 in April or another week in April?

Anyone interested in making the trip and splitting the $?

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

Sounds like a great idea, but just a bit far for me to travel on those ET Streets.

Don is just spoiled, living so close to E-Town. He doesn't know that us dedicated hardcore racers drive 2 hours every time we want to race..

I can definitely make the 1st. Probably the 22nd.

We might be able to drum up some recruits on Saturday.

I race beaver quite a bit.

Not trying to talk you out of the track rental, but if you call Beaver and ask then about "already" rented tracks, they will most likely tell you just to show up and most of the groups will let you join in, as it saves them money cutting the rental costs with another person.

I did that nearly every track rental last year trying to sort out my setup. The best and most fun was early in the year with a group of guys running V-6 pontiacs, some ran in the high 11 and bunch in the bottom 12s. I was pretty impressed with them. I also won a set of ceramic coated headers from the one sponsor for the fastest car, but did not feel right, nor would have they fit, so I gave them to the next guy that was the fastest that belonged to group renting.

But yeah count me in with a rental if your looking for people. I would love to get together with some of you. The place is a nice track.
