Default Hood Seal Please

Does anyone in the U.S. have an extra piece of that rubber lying around, that I can use for a hood seal. I don't know why, but I can't find any here in Toronto at Home Depot, or any other auto or home improvement store. I'm trying to avoid going to GM and paying $75.00 for a piece of 2 dollar weather stripping. I will pay for shipping. If not can someone pick up some at home depot, and I will pay the 8 bucks or whatever it is, that way you get a free hood seal. Thanks for helping, not easy being a Canadian!

If no one else has a piece to send you, send me a PM with you home address and the specs for the rubber and I'll pick up some and send your way. (I went the "non-DIY" mode and paid more moeny from a vendor.)

Thanks a bunch, very kind of you. I'll just give this thread some time and see if someone has an extra piece lying around. I believe it is D-gauge weather stripping from home depot, and you only need 4', but have to buy it in a bunch, like 20' or something. I really appreciate your offer.

Nothing close at my Home Depot either, but I made sure I took measurements of the one I have. The style is like the photo below. The base (B) is 3/4" wide and the height (A) is 7/8".

That is valuable info, thanks man. Black beauty, you may be my only hope, at least I have the right measurements now.

Don't know if this helps but I just got a hood seal from Mid America for 15.00 and a while back saw a GP for $11.00 but I forgot about it.

Hmmm, I just bought the hood seal thru either LAPD or WCC and it didn't look that at all. The older style I bought almost 2 years ago did.

The newer model that I just received has a 90 degree edge (where the sticky tape is located) with a curved edge on the opposing side. It fits much, much better than the older style illustrated in the above post.

Just my observations....

Oh, and the packaging promises at least 25 more HP.

I just got this one from LAPD's tax sale, it was from CAU - only had it for a few weeks.

I got mine at Autozone. It is from Softseal. Here is a picture of it.

I will purchase an entire package for you and send it to you. Find someone in Canada to share it with. I think it is $12-15. US and there is enough in one package to do TWO C5 with 18" left over.

Here is something else to think about. I have an 02 Z06 and the trunk area is always collecting dirt, twigs, leaves, and water. I wanted to find a way to seal it up so, I purchased the same type of seal that is used to seal the sides of the hood to the fenders. It worked FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a couple of pictures of the install. Tell me what you think

Bill

I agree Bill, great job. It almost makes me want to redo the hatch area of my coupe...

PS the shape of the weatherstripping in Bill's post is the same as what I got from LAPD..
