Default Crank pulley TSB report

I spoke with our shop mang. today on this problem. I don’t know if this info has been posted or not but according to the TSB only those VINs that are before 55111039 are affected by this problem. The fix is simple just a washer needs to be installed unless the pulley has come off and has damaged the crank then it is a diff. story.

But GM won't let the dealer put on the washer unless the pully has come off and has damaged the crank.

I'm pretty sure that there is also a new bolt as well, the old one is to be overtorqued to press the pulley onto the cranksnout. The old bolt is then removed and the new bolt installed and torqued to the correct specification.

Not really a simple repair. GM pays 2.3 hours, plus a check and/or adjustment for the toe after the steering rack is removed.

Do you also have any info on how many of these "washer kits" have been installed on all possibly affected cars?I`m trying to see how many c6 really have the problem. You might be able to find out from GM?

Mine has been at my local dealer in Ft. Myers, FL for 1 WEEK!!!! They just told me today at noon that they are waiting on the washer, but they have all of the other parts. Do you have access to the required washer? If so, I'll pay to overnight it. This is crazy!

I am sure it would be a ordered part for us as well.

If your cars falls into the VINs affected then take it to your dealer for an inspection to see if you have a problem.

Thanks, I'm going to call Kerbeck again (where I got it) and see if they have one in stock. Waiting this long for 1 washer is unacceptable.

This is truly unacceptable!How are they gonna handle this if a lot of pulleys might start to fail come spring. Are they all supposed to wait a couple of weeks. Since GM knows about the problem they should stock the Chevy dealers with at least 1 washer kit.

Kerbeck says the Part # from the TSB that C-5 TECH posted is NOT a part #.

WPC Part # 305
Desc = Washer, Crankshaft Balancer
qty = 1

How are they going to fix our cars if they don't know what the heck to order????

Doesn`t you dealer know the part#?? What has your dealer ordered 1 week ago? Maybe GM thinks the customer has to know part#??

If your dealer was paying attention when he read the TSB, he'd see that the washer isn't available from the normal parts channel. It must be obtained from the GM warranty parts center as part of the repair kit.
