Default Corvette Nurburgring video!

With all the talk about the vettes on the Nurburgring I thought many of y'all would like to see my C5 Z06 on the ring.

I'm the middle car in this video, the lead C5 is a Euro spec driven by Christer and he now has his own Audi TT race team that ran in the 24 hours of Nurburg; I'm in the middle and Mark is making the video. The video starts just before the carousel.

Enjoy.

Yeah, this video I was in my second year there, Mark didn't have very many laps, that is why his line is sometimes different

Nice vid. What kind of an event was that? I noticed firesuits were not required and they usually don't allow bikes on the track at the same time as cars. Also looked like the surface was somewhat dirty. I've never been there so I'm very curious. Looks like an awesome track though.

it's a free-for-all: anything street legal, no safety gear required except on bikes, the track is always like that. It's closer to a mountain road than a race track.

Great action !! Whats the terms to get on track. How long do you get for set price. Was this your car or a rental. You're military ... right ? Got your car sent over for free I would bet.

At the very end your camera guy got his Lt. tire off track surface and had some exciting moments. Overall, the track seemed quiet smooth and video quality was better than expected.

Didn't see anyone pass you ....

The bike was on the left already, and yeah, I tap the brakes before that jump to settle the car. That is what my instructor taught me for that section, he taught me to quickly move the wheel from the left hand turn to straight right before the crest.

A year long pass is over $700 now I think, you jsut look at the calendar for all the public days, if a vehicle is street legal it can go on the track. You sign no waivers. It was my US spec Z06. The track is very smooth in most parts.

cool, I have taking a slightly different line through there so I could hit it head on then brake after landing. I'll give it a try, your times are faster than mine

actually, a year pass is 700euros, so it's closer to $900 now

I showed the video to my brother who is a bit of a motorcycle nut too. He was curious why the bikes were getting passed. Are they not the bikes we see here in the states? Or is there something we don't get?

TIA,

Anyone know how to get a copy of the C6 "infomercial" on the "Making of the C6" that has some Nurburgring shots on it too?

TIA,
On the street scooters are faster than cars, that is not always true on a track. Cars can corner faster than bikes, so if I get behind a bike before or after a curve and they are not new to the ring, they know to get out of the way. Another problem is they take a different line. I almost killed a newbie biker once, the newbies are the worst because they think they are faster than cars, but they are not! And when high up in my rpm band the bikes barely out accelerate me, so they generally get out of the way. On the Hockenheim ring they alternate between cars and bikes, but the 12 mile long Nurburgring is too long for that.

You need to ask Harrel who runs the racebay.com site, but I think he was because he went to LSU.
