Can you over-use Torco?
Let's say that I add a quart at each fillup, even if I have 1/2 tank of fuel left when I fillup, would it matter? Will the ratio ever become too much Torco/Fuel and will that affect performance in any way? Wondering if it could foul the plugs or gum up at all. Thanks

At some point it's going to lose it's effectiveness but I doubt anyone knows exactly where that point is. I used the testing on JBS's site to determine that Torco's effective octane is 316.5. Now obviously you can't use straight Torco and get 316.5 nor would you ever want it.
I made this calculator: http://www.alantripp.com/torcooctanecalculator.xls
Based on what you were saying, assuming you filled up 16 gallons of 93 and 1 quart of Torco you would have a 96.44 Octane rating. If you then drove half the tank out, filled up, and added a quart of Torco, you would have 8 gallons (32 quarts) of 96.44, 8 gallons (32 quarts) of 93. and 1 quart of Torco (316.5), your octane would now be 98.132. If you continued this pattern it would keep gettng higher but would obviously stop at some point.

I've been running Torco in every tank for the last 5 years!! I too run one quart in 9 or 10 gallons of 91 gas. This puts me in the 96.5/97 octane range. NO problems at all...
I would not mix it stronger then 5 gallons per quart, that should raise you about 10 octane points!!

The only thing I can see is you would lose some performance with too high of an octane. An example is 87 octane flashes at a lower temp than 93 octane. Higher octane just keeps the explosion from occuring too soon in the stroke, as higher compression ratios can cause the mixture to pre-detonate. You really don't want to use any higher of an octane that what you safely need to use. Bob

Another Torco Calculator. I wanted to try and keep the octane level at a steady state so I produced this calculator. Torco Calc
