[Z06] Z06 vs. SRT10 vs. GT500

they actually aired that episode on my local public station last saturday. the z06 is atomic orange. I won't spill all the beans, but you know who comes out on top. Although, this '07 car did run a couple clicks slower in the 1/4 and three mph less trap than the black '06 car they tested last year.
they do show a cool clip of the three cars ligned up against each other and they all launch from a dig. After all 3 find some traction, the Z just lays waste to both the viper and gt500. Did I mention I love this car?

Saw it on PBS on Saturday (in lovely HD, which Speed is not). Here's what I can remember (not exactly). It was pretty cold outside, they said, so the cars weren't hooking up well, but the Z06 of course won every category. The acceleration times were relatively slow with no car breaking under 4 seconds or into the 11's. The Z06 and Viper were close in the drag race with the Z winning by a tenth and mph or two in the low 120's. The GT500 trapped a 114 or so.
They also did a road course lap time test and the Z beat the Viper by a few seconds and the GT500 by 6 or 7 (slaughter).
Overall, of course, they said all the cars were good, the GT500 is a bargain, the Z06 is the best all around, and the Viper is the most exotic.
It was a good episode and I was glad they did the track test as that's where the Z really shines.
Enjoy it when you get a chance to watch it!

must be that extra sound deadening material and larger glove box weighting the '07s down...

The electronics (torque management, etc..) are more intrusive on the 07 model year. Nothing a tune can't fix!

Has anyone noted a difference on the dyno? Since they're using the SAE method, they CAN'T reduce peak power without restating the number.
My completely wild guess is that maybe they added more aggressive torque management to help save the rear end, and its translating into slower times.
Thoughts?

Hey, you're making my '07 sad :-)

not the 06 / 07 battle again
At Richmond last weekend the 06's must have been faster they were the only ones that snaped rears. Makes me glad I have a "slow 07" that ran consistant 11.6x @125 (All stock) and never broke anything.

I wonder why they keep bringing the GT500 to these shoot out's. The last time they put a base C6 against the GT500 the base vette bested it.
They are giving it more credit then it deserves.
