A friend of mine over at another forum purchased a soft top over two months ago from this vendor and has been getting the run around since then. Here is his posting from January 25th:
"I too am having a problem with this same vendor, I paid for a soft top frame two months ago that has not been delivered. I had agreed to pick it up since I was making a trip to Detroit the end of December rather then ship it. The day of the trip there was no answer when I called and he called me back when I was homeward bound saying he would get back to me in three days, that was Dec 29th. No returned calls or e-mails since, his mailbox is full yet he was online at CF two nights ago soliticing business.
I am usually real easygoing until you **** me off and I am getting POed with corvetteworx AKA Scot Dixon"
He tried the phone number and it too was disconnected. He would prefer CASH according to his ad, I bet he does!!!!
regards, Herb

not the way to run a business
I hope he does also, but fear a trip will be necessary. The phone number in the C3 post he has for Interiors is disconnected and he doesn't return e-mails .

Rip offs growing
Guys, I don't know what is going on anymore with these people that advertise their products for sale and then disapear. I read about a LOT of this on the LS1 tech forum. Guys advertise their parts for sale, an honest buyer sends them their hard earned money expecting their parts and sometimes NEVER see their parts or hear from the seller again.
Sound like the best going SCAM at this time.
Hope you guys get your product or your money back.

If you called Sermersheim's direct, could you talk them into the same price Corvetteworx charges, and cut out the middleman? What if your body shop made the phone call?

I see you have been a member since 2002, this should not come as a shock to anyone as much has been posted on this subject. I'm not bashing a supporting vendor just pointing what I have read over the years.

update
I just received an e-mail from Scott explaining his Wife is in the Hospital so he has not been at home much lately. He will arrange to have the top frame in Monroe where I can pick it up. I'm a trusting soul so I hope to receive the top frame soon.
I hope all goes well with his Wife and the child they are expecting.

This is an interesting point of discussion. I used to frequent the AACA forum where they absolutely ban any and all negative threads between a member and a vendor. The do not however ban positive threads to that regard.
I visit that forum less now basically because an inquiry about a supplier, vendor, or shop experience only produces positive responses if any. I find this information basically worthless. It creates an entire sub-forum of email regarding problems that don't benefit other viewers of the forum. It can also give a false sense of security to a viewer looking to use a vendor who has a track record of poor performance.
I generally take all professed forum experiences with a grain of salt. The value that I derive however is a heightened sensitivity to the signs that an experience is going the wrong way. This forum medium cuts both ways. It allows vendors to promote and advertise their goods at a relatively low cost but it also exposes every wart and imperfection, whether justifiable or not.
I would hope that reputations be made (good or bad) from more than one posting. Sorry to go OT!
