Default Look at my 2 distributors

I'm replacing the blue (stock) one with the red. The red is a duel points. I'm stuck - how do I put on the vaccuum canister on the new distr? Or where does the vaccuum hose hook up and where do you connect the neg wire from the coil?
thanks

That dist has no provisions for vacuum advance. You cannot hook up a cannister to this one.

Why are you replacing the old unit with a dual point dist.

I had a Mallory duel point in my Chevelle. Man I hated it and though it out. Cut my under the hood time in half.

Why didn't you just go to an HEI with a mechanical tach drive?

Because they cost about $500
I got this one for only about $130. Anyway, I guess it's not going to work. Maybe I'll sent my old one to Lars to rebuild....this all started because the tack drive cross gear was stripped and now I see the distr tach drive gear is stripped too. There doesn't seem to be any wear on the housing though....

I am running the stock dist with a set of heavy duty points that trigger a Crane HI6 box. It runs flawless to 7000 rpm. Nothing wrong with a stock rebuilt and recurved dist.

You can get a new HEI from ecklers with a 50000 volt coil for less than 140.00.

The $140 HEI at ecklers does not have a mechanical tach drive ... however, tach drive HEI can be had for much less than $500. Star Racing P/N 9200TDR is a clone of a GM HEI ... BUT it also has a mechanical tach drive ... Star's price $163. Phone Star @ 1-800-625-9454

-edit- Star P/N 9200TDR is same as Ecklers P/N 47935 ... ecklers gets $350 ... star gets $163.

Not one with tach drive. Looks like I would have to repair my stock distr and then put in a no-points conversion kit.
