Default 2006 Z06 Kooks Headers Before and After Dyno Sheet...

Dear C6 Z06 Owners,

We just completed a 2006 Z06 Kooks header install and here is the before and after dyno sheet. The car is stock otherwise and has 1,000 miles on the odometer. All we did was dyno the car in stock condition, bolted on the headers and high flow cats and did another dyno run. ENJOY.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Power gains are very impressive as you can see.

Thanks!

Shawn

Wow! It looks like I might have to add Kooks to my list of possible headers when I decide to put some on in the next month or two.

Obviously that dyno is without tuning (since none is available). Is it too soon to ask if you've seen any codes with the headers on yet? Did the check engine light come on?

Also, do you have pricing on them?

Thanks Shawn.

2k1 Vette,

That is correct. This is WITHOUT tuning since it isn't available as of yet. There aren't any codes that have popped up yet and the check engine light has remained off which is a good thing.

Pricing on the headers is roughly around $1725.00 for the full header kit with high flow cats.

Thanks!

Shawn

Wow those are some nice gains with just headers. Looks like a great bang for the buck mod. In case some of you dont want to open the graph.

HP 440 went to 475
TQ 411 went to 451

Quite impressive

1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8" what size merge collector? what size rest of exhaust (including hiflow cats)?

Do you think with aggressive cam, a 1 7/8" stepped to 2" would be a better choice on the LS7?

Thanks

StreetRacingGuy,

The only header listing Kooks offers at this time for the 2006 Z06 is a 1 7/8" header kit with a full 3" back mid-section to match the factory 3" piping. This header kit would be just fine with a cam or a head AND cam package.

Certainly doesn't look like it lost anything at all. Gained a lot at 5800 rpm. Not too shabby down low either. It definitely leaned things out. It might be happy at 13.0 a/f. I'd like to see it a little fatter to be safe.
Gee, I guess 1 7/8" aren't poison after all.
Now what are you gonna do with all that power?

TicketBait,

I heard you brought your awesome new black Z06 in. I am sorry I missed seeing it and seeing you again. We can have another dyno day whenever the forum members want one and we have dynoed a record 30 cars in 7 hours.

Let us know.

Thanks!

Shawn

Shawn,

Can you comment on the installation of these headers? I assume they install from underneath the car? Do they require the engine to be lifted or dropped at all? Do they require anything to be moved/relocated (ie, another thread mentioned something about slightly moving the oil lines due to possible heat issues).

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, these headers install from the bottom and the only thing we had to do in order to get the headers in was to temporarily disconnect the two oil lines running from the dry sump canister to the oil pan. We did lose some oil due to disconnecting the lines, but the car had about 1100 miles on it at the time so the owner decided to do the first oil change so that worked in our favor. We also installed two magnetic oil drain plugs when we changed the oil and they fit just fine as well. We didn't have to lift the engine or anything like that and the oil lines didn't have to be moved as the clearance was fine and the oil lines did have heat wrap on them from the factory.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Shawn

Wow, look how much richer that thing went in the low range. BIG gains to be had from tuning. We are talking 50 RWFTLBS or more from LTs and a tune.

Actually, the red curve (with headers) was way lean at the low end, not rich.
