C6 Hurst install pics & instructions
Installed a Hurst shifter tonight. Took about 1hr 15min start to finish, too much time was wasted trying to disconnect power sources such as heated seats & cig lighters. Some of them are just difficult to figure out blindly. Other then that, very similar to a C5 & it is the same part #.
To start you will need two beers, a shifter, new shift ****, and I also got a rubber plug to seal things up.
Remove two nuts in rear of console.
Gently pop off airbag light & remove one more bolt & then 2 small screws in console. Gently pull on the silver part of the console & it will unclip all the way up to the air vents. Unclip the cig lighter, heated seats, and one plug by the registers. Just flip it to the passenger side otherwise you also need to unclip the 12V in the arm rest and the t/a control.
No demon key on the C6. Just remove one torx screw to take **** off.The boot is different then the C5, you can't just unclip it & pull it up. No need to remove the park brake boot. You cannot reuse this **** with the Hurst.
It's no wonder the C6 is so much quiter, there are 2 rubber seals & lot of foam keeping the tranny noise from the cabin.

Stock shifter.
Stock shifter on left, Hurst on right. Remove the plastic ball from the stock shifter & put it on the Hurst.
Shifter removed.
Hurst installed. You are suppose to reinstall with the new hex bolts in the kit. They seemed to long for me & felt like they wanted to cross thread. I stuck with the originals. I also took out the stops. Those are the two black screws with the nut you see in the front & rear of the shifter. If you plan on changing springs or settings do it now. You won't be able to just pop the shift boot up unless you start all over. Also, the instructions tell you to run through the gears now. What it doesn't say is that you won't be able to put it in reverse...don't worry. I learned this with my C5 so after 1-6 worked smoothly I knew it would be fine.
Rubber boot reinstalled. Notice the hole that tranny noise could transmit.
Used the rubber plug to stop it. Doesn't fit quite as nice as the C5 b/c of a plastic ring that stops you from flipping it completely inside out. Serves the purpose though.
Finished complete with MOMO ****. These ***** are nice b/c they are heavy & solid. They won't transmit vibration or rattle. The only problem I had in the end is that my lighter didn't work. It is hooked up but no power so I ended up hardwiring my V1 tonight too.
The shifter is much shorter, notchier & quicker. I left ist stock settings out of the box, previously I've used the softest springs. It's a great mod, easy enough for most to do.

Query, would a warm Cabernet Sauvignon work in place of a cold Bud? Or, perhaps a rich and supple yet only moderately tannic and, therefore, wonderfully drinkable Merlot? Or, would that be too pretentious for a shifter install? I can never tell.
Great pics BTW.

However, I too like the stock ****...hmmmm.

They are the std 12oz. The larger cans are no good b/c if they are on the shop floor beside the car, they are tall enough for the door to knock over if you open/close it.
