Which procedure are you using? There are 2 different ones.

The shorter procedure is for those who already have at least one fob and want to add more fobs. The longer procedure is for those who don't have any fobs already programmed and want to start with fob #1.

How many fobs do you already have for your car? 4 is the limit.

I was trying to use the short version as I have 2 working fobs. Adding an '08 fob to '06 car.

Has anyone ever got the short version to work?

Same problem here: turned the key in the trunk 3 times (or was it 5? Whatever the manual said I followed exactly) and NOTHING happened. Tried it over and over again until I gave up.

GM refers to it in the owner's manual as a keyless access transmitter. You have a C6 and you don't know what a fob is?

fob1 (fob), n.
1. a small pocket just below the waistline in trousers for a watch, keys, change, etc. Cf. watch pocket.
2. a short chain or ribbon, usually with a medallion or similar ornament, attached to a watch and worn hanging from a pocket.
3. the medallion or ornament itself.

I've done this many times and have made up a doc for it...

Simple programming instructions......(short version, you already have a working fob)

1. Car off
2. trunk open
3. glove box open
4. Put working fob on console next to shifter (the one you are currently using to drive the car) IMPORTANT.
5. put key in trunk keyhole and turn key five times in less than 5 seconds.
6. DIC will now light up and say ready for fob 3
7. put new unprogrammed fob in slot by glovebox with buttons facing right (passenger) side.
8. wait and watch DIC. When it says “ready for fob 4” it is done.
9. push OFF/ACC (bottom of start button) to turn off DIC.
10. Test all four buttons on fob and then take away all other fobs and check car starting with new fob.

I think the biggest problem most people have is that they are hurrying the five key turns and not completely turning the key each time. 5 times in five seconds is not that fast...take your time and make sure the key is going the full 90 degrees of turn. I have done programming on 2 extra fobs in less than 2 minutes using this procedure. Let us know...

Yes, several have posted here about getting the shorter version to work where you're just adding additional fobs.

Don't have any suggestions other than taking it to the dealer and getting him to do it.

Maybe others with experience with the procedure will chime in.

Remember that if you're programming it as a fob #3 or #4, it can only be used to lock/unlock/start the car. No memory options at all.

The longer version for reprogramming all fobs seems to be the one that's the most difficult.

Perform the following two steps immediately before starting the programming procedure:

A. Start your car.
B. Shut engine off. (Note: If it is a manual transmission, put it in reverse before shutting off.)
Hope it helps!

If your car is a manual (and from your username, I assume your car is a Z06, in which case it is a manual) the gear selector must be in reverse.

This condition is mentioned in the shop manual but was left out of the owner's manual (for model year '06, anyway).

My 07 vert spends its garage time in neutral and it programs just fine that way.

Default New 08 FOB now working

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. As "FACADE-C6" and "torquetube" said the tranny must be in reverse. I put it in reverse and it worked first time.

Mine is an '06 and this may pertain to '06s only.

Thanks again for the help............
