Default FS 88-96 MY C4 to C5 brake bracket kits with bolts.

Okay folks,

We have another run of the C5 adapter brackets ready with bolt kits for anyone who needs them. These are made with ASA 50 rated steel and professionally laser cut and finished. The coating is industrial black polyurethane. All of our bolts come straight from fastenal and are made right here in the USA.

$125.00 Shipped anywhere in the 48 states. Slightly more for our friends in the far north and in the islands.

Made in U.S.A ?????
Are you SURE????

I can't believe it.
Something made HERE???

You know you can get those made in China, Taiwan, Korea or Mexico for about 50 cents.

Never mind that NO ONE HERE will be able to BUY them.

Yep. Hard to believe. Just watched another 75 sets come off the plasma table last week in fact. Made right here in the good old USA. Your right though. I could have them made overseas, but then I wouldnt be selling them either. Invest in america. Someone has to.

Do you have or know of anyone who has brackets for the rear brakes also? Or is there a reason no one upgrades the rear C4 brakes to C5 when they upgrade the fronts? I want to upgrade mine but was told it would upset the balance and result in brakes that were actually worse than the stock C4 13" brakes. Any opinions on this.

I may be mistaken but I believe that the J55 option 13" brakes for C4 were only for the front brakes. Even my 95 which by then came stock with the 13" brakes are only on the front not the rear.

I believe that the basic reason is that 70 - 80& of the braking is actually done by the front wheels. Just a little bit too much brake in the rear, locks the rears up with what could be disasterous results.

I don't think there are any, if much, gains by going to C5 rear calipers on the rear.

Having already done it, unless you are very seriously tracking the car its just not worth the trouble to do the rears. You will also need to add a brake bias adjuster if you do the rears as well.

Yep. the J55 option increases the front brakes from 12 inch rotors to 13x1 rotors and slightly different abutment brackets. Our brackets allow you to install c5 rotors which are thicker, along with the better c5 based calipers and abutment brackets. The pads, and rotors are generally cheaper and you have a wide selection of heat ranges with the c5 parts. the resistance to fading is higher too with the C5 equipment.

Thanks for the info. As I'm not planning on racing my car I guess I don't need to upgrade the rears (maybe even more so in my case as my tires and wheels will be the same front and rear).
How do I go about ordering a set of brackets from you?

Why 85-87? Is there something about the 84 that I don't know about? I've got an 84 and when I went for front calipers the calipers were for 84-87. Is there actually a reason why these won't work on the 84?

Not that we know of, but frankly we have never installed a set on an 84. What I can offer you, though is that if they don't fit, I will let you rma/return them minus shipping. Let me know if we can send you a set.

Im very interested but a bit confused. In your post to Frankenstein you said that you will be shipping the 85-87 adapters in a few weeks. Isnt the 85-87 Vette a C4? I have a 85 L98 C4, but these brackets will not work?

Also, when doing this I will want to upgrade my brake lines to steel braided. Does anybody know a good source for these?

We believe they should fit the 84, but I have not sold a set to an 84 owner yet. I am happy to do so, but with the understanding that if the spindle is different for any reason, we will allow for the return of course. We do know they fit 85-87. Shipping these in 10-12 days as the new run comes out. If you would like a set, let me know and we will invoice you. Spring must be coming.
