Default FS: 96 LT1 Engine

Engine SOLD on 21 Oct 07. Thanks to all.

Last week I pulled my stock 96 LT1 to make room for my new engine, a 388. Now the stock engine is for sale.

Here's the deal:

Engine is completely stock, 96,000 miles, never raced and has been my daily driver. Has no problems; no smoking, no codes, starts and runs great. In about the year that I've owned the car, I've only had to replace the starter and the EGR valve and solenoid.

Engine is completely assembled except for a few parts I removed to prevent being damaged during removal from the car. Parts such as the EGR valve and solenoid, steam vent tubing, etc.

Engine is bagged, on an engine stand and ready for pickup.

I tried not to, but I needed to use a few parts off the engine to be installed on the new one. Here's what I used:

Starter,
All Sensors,
Throttle Body
Water Pump (although I do have another one but it's designed for a "F" body)
Exhaust Manifolds,
MAF and bellows,
Oil Pan re-enforcing side rails
Fuel rails and covers
Motor mounts
Off-set oil filter mount
Coil and Module
Plug wires and retainers

Engine still has installed on it:

Intake and injectors,
Oil pan
Hub and Damper
Opti
T/C cover
Flexplate
Full Valve train with lifter preload still set

I have the following items that will be included if my asking price is met:

Composite valve covers (but one has a nickel size hole in it due to my over-zealous attempt to grind clearance for the poly locks on my new RRs),
New stock type exhaust manifold gaskets,
New water pump gaskets,
New timing chain cover gaskets,
"F" body water pump (painted red if that matters to you),
Stock torque converter,
Timing chain cover for PRE 96 engines (doesn't have provision for the Crank Position Sensor although stock 96 T/C cover is still installed), SOLD
Splined water pump connector
Stock 96 Vette PCM.
Steam Vent Tube and Banjo bolts

This is for pickup.

I don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping, besides you'd be looking at more than $300, since I had to pay $300 just to have my 388short block shipped from SD.

$1,000 for whole she-bang. I don't want to break this up, it's a package deal. Just want to clear out the garage in one swoop.

Here's a pic of the engine in the car when I bought it last year.

I'm back in Texas now. Engine is sitting on an engine stand in my storage locker just outside Dallas.

Thanks for your attention,

Jake

JUST AN UPDATE: ENGINE IS NOW BACK IN DESOTO (DALLAS) TEXAS IN MY STORAGE LOCKER. I didn't receive any bites so I trucked it back to TX.

I tried registering on that board but could never receive a confirmation to allow me to post anything. Don't know what's up with that.

Approval finally came through and I posted the engine there.

Thanks, again for the tip. If it sells there, I'll send you a 'Finder's Fee.'

One picture is worth a thousand words.

How's this as evidence of a well maintained engine, after 96,000 miles.

I'm one of those guys that live on www.impalassforum.com too and he's right many parts/engines sell there as well. You may want to post in the Wagon section as well as the Roadmaster/Caprice/Fleetwood sections just to give the gang a heads up. Sometimes you could miss someone looking or just to tease their curiosity too. Good Luck with the sale.

Also I have the same screen name there as here. good luck.

I will, but I doubt seriously that I'll part it.

ENGINE'S NOW BACK IN DESOTO (DALLAS) TEXAS. I trucked it back there and put it in my storage locker since I didn't receive any bites here in IL.

How's this for sweetening the deal.

If you buy it for the price of $1,000, in addition to all the other parts I have listed, I'll throw in all four 17" stock Vette wheels that came off the same 96 LT1. But if someone comes along wanting to buy the wheels, I'll sell them. First come, first served.

What do you guys call them saw-blades? I've got the lug nuts and caps too.

This is for pick-up since I don't know how to ship an engine, and all the other stuff.

Better than that I can't do.

Jake have you tried to get hold of RAP87? I know he needed a motor and I saw he sold his wheels so this might be a good deal for him.

staugur is right. RAP87 is in bad shape with his Vette. This would help him a ton.

Well, guys I appreciate your concern. I picked up a cheaper set of wheels/tires from Shriker, so I was able to take care of that...only reason I did was because the neighbors are very nice and didn't report me to the city for having my Vette on stands, but I did need to get it down...But, right now even though this is one heck of a deal, I need to get caught up in bills and what not before I spend 2k, or more on the Vette between motor/install. The free motor got my hopes up cause then your looking at $200 in shipping and $600 install...I could probably swing that...if I felt there was a real good chance of actually driving my car...but right now...the wife would like to get her tattoo finished and go shopping for once in 6months and being that she's helped carry the burden of this bad car purchase for quite awhile now...I need to help in letting her get some of what she wants...but it did really touch me that some of you guys were talking about helping me get that block, and or driving it halfway, and now looking out for me in other ads...makes me feel good thanks guys

No, but Wal-Mart was.

I went into my local Wal-Mart to buy a few things. Walked into the automotive section looking for some Dupli-Color spray paint but couldn't find it.

I asked the young guy, Warren, working there where was the glass display that it use to be kept in, but he didn't know. So we walked all through the section, talking as we went.

He asked me if I knew anything about engines or anyone that could build one. Went on to tell me about his 96 Caprice with a seized LT1 engine.

BINGO!! "Young man, I have exactly what you need."

Jake
