Default MSD 6-series harness

Anyone here know of, or using, an MSD wiring harness for their 6-series box with the HEI distributor? Just looking for easy and clean installation options.

Thanks

I have one, it works well. I want to modify it a bit though so I can easily rip the MSD box out and go back to the stock HEI in case of failure.

Any idea what the part number is if that is an MSD product?

No problem, this thread inspired me to hook mine back up tonight. Once you get the black and red heavy wires run to the battery that harness makes it a breeze.

I hooked up my MSD 6AL and MSD 8366 distributor using a harness from Jim's Performance. It converts prior to hitting the stock HEI distributor and everything after that is MSD stuff. Its a breeze to put in.
I highly recommended the full conversion!

Special thanks to LD85, who helped me follow his way (this way) of installing this stuff onto my car.

The parts:

MSD-8366 Distributor

MSD-6420 6AL Rev Control Spark Box
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

MSD-8223 Blaster 3 External Coil (Uses normal spark plug wire)
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

MSD-8213 Coil Holder
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...?part=MSD-8213

MSD Rpm chips

Jim's Performance HEI to MSD wiring harness
http://jimsperformance.com/
(Just call him and tell him exactly what you are doing and he will set you up)

The install:
The coil goes along the driver side inner wheel well using existing bolts there (I had to elongate the mounting holes on the bracket on one side as they weren't far enough apart to fit the stock distance for those bolts that go there.) Easy install.

The distributor drops right into place and plugs directly into the harness from jim's which plugs into the stock harnesses to the base of the distributor.

The 6AL can be mounted on an aluminum plate near the ac housing on the passenger side. Merely take some aluminum plate cut it to fit, w/ an extra ~1-2" in length. Mount the MSD box to it at one edge. Bend the excess on the other end at a 90* angle and this will mount to a screw already existing in the firewall. Mine had a relay on it, which I relocated.

The MSD has a two wires to the coil, two to the battery and one to the tachometer wire running to the computer/dash.

Pretty easy install really. Here is a pic of the plate/6AL:

The coil, mine is mounted in that groove above there where there are already bolts. This is LD85's version.
