Last year I replaced the Bilstein's on my 85 Z51 with KYB's and to be perfectly honest, with daily driving, I can hardly tell the difference.

Over the years it has become pretty obvious to me that the older the Vette, the more likely the owner is to wave. This seems especially true of C4 and older owners with some C5 owners on the fence....

If that works, get ready to replace it as it's on it's way out.

That's exactly why I had to change mine. Brake fluid was leaking out of that port. I know I could leave that port open but it just looks more "finished" to have that port closed.

I have the shift kit in my 85 and it acts about the same as what you are describing. You might just want to check for any u-joint play in your drive shaft.
