Re: TPI motor question (patsnitrovette)

Thanks again!
Do you know if I'll be able to use the Trans-Am airfilter housing? (I haven't seen the car in question)
Will my Dynomax headers fit the new motor?
The seller might want to keep...

Re: TPI motor question (Ingar, Norway)

Thanks guys!!

This sounds promising. According to the info at thirdgen all 1987 350 have roller-cam.
The seller is going to swap for a big carb-motor so I will also be able to get the...

TPI motor question

I've been offered a 350 TPI from a 1987 Trans-AM (70kmiles), complete with sensors, engine wiring etc.
Would this be much different to what was offered for the Corvette that year? Does it have...

Re: 700r4 crossmember pics (Titanium Rat)

Thanks!!
I had a 76 crossmember, but found it easier to start from scratch, since it was then also possible to get a straight exhaust from the headers.
Highly recommended, even if you, like me,...

Re: 700r4 crossmember pics (Titanium Rat)

I made one from scratch using a square profile. There are some pictures in the 700r4 article at my site. (Tech section)

Re: Thoughts and comments about our wonderful brakes (Blues77)

O-rings are good for static sealing, but on a moving piston lip-seals are better and will keep tight longer.
Only reason to use o-rings is if you have problems with air-sucking, (most common at the...

Re: 700R4/2004R owners: Does your tranny like to drop into 4th? (page62)

>But the people at Bow Tie Overdrives told me there is not that much difference between 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock

That sounds really strange..

Page62: Do you know the clock position and radius for the Qjet attachment (with the bracket) that you find work best?

DIY vacuum pump....

As many of you have found out, having a vacuum source is handy when troubleshooting the Corvette vacuum systems.
Not easy to find, at least over here, and expensive.
So I made my own:

Had one...

Re: 700R4/2004R owners: Does your tranny like to drop into 4th? (page62)

There is an ongoing battle in your trans between pressures created by throttle position and car speed.
The TV valve creates a pressure that is exposed to one side of the shift valves (controlled by...

Re: True dual exhaust for an 81 (jaybird81)

I have a DIY dual exhaust article at my page. You must modify the crossmember to get a decent straight run of the pipes, I made a new one as a part of my 700r4 installation.
Miker here on the forum...

This is still an issue.

Re: Finding An Electrical Draw - methodology question! (lbell101)

I would say that method is not usable.
Due to the very high input resistance of your meter even the smallest load on the battery (f.ex. clock) will make it show 12V. And it will tell you nothing...

Re: A question for the 1980 owners out there. (BSeery)

That's really weird Stephan.

Sure that your distributor vacuum is ported?
Also, 3inch/hg is very little vacuum, my motor (original cam) never goes that low, even during WOT.

I wish that my...

Re: A question for the 1980 owners out there. (BSeery)

Stephan, is your switch as the same type as the original and are you sure it's connected to ported vacuum?

GM spec for the original switch is to close at only 3inch/Hg, that's how my switch...

Re: My Driving Lamp Project (1970 Stingray)

Re: My Driving Lamp Project (paul79)

In Norway we have to use driving lights, but it's not allowed to have them lit when low beams are on, they can be on with high beam though.
Also, the parking lights must be lit along with the...

Re: A question for the 1980 owners out there. (BSeery)

If its closed with no vacuum, then its definitely shot.

Agree that having a manifold vacuum switch to unlock at high loads would be better, but the original 1980 switch is not usable for this...

Re: A question for the 1980 owners out there. (BSeery)

The vacuum switch is connected to ported vacuum , it's closed in all throttle positions except idle.

Sounds like your switch might be connected to manifold vacuum.
The switch need very little...

Re: Tell me if my math is wrong (Desertdawg)

To my knowledge the 82 has a 2.87 rear.
At 4400rpm in 4th gear, your speed would be around 175mph....
At 2300rpm it should have been around 90mph.....

If you were in 3rd, it should have...

Important to clean the area around the hole carefully so the brass is clean without...

Re: 700r4 conversion from 400? (rparkervette)

I have an article at my page.
Just bought a used one from a 87 Caprice. (Aux body was added late 86, but the 88-92 have a new main valve body also)
It was in pretty bad shape, but after installing...
