If you are really hitting 8000 rpm then you are driving the alt at 133% of its redline. If it were me, I'd keep the crank revs down at 6000 until I came up with a solution for slowing down at least...

"M20" is an ordering code that basically means "wide ratio 4 speed". There are M20's that are Muncies and M20's that are Super T10's.

There are M21's (close ratio 4 speeds) of both flavors, too.

If the compound is of the type for track use only they will stop very, very poorly until they are -very- hot. Street use requires street pads.
