I have succesfully used OSRAM #64111 5w Halogen bulbs in every c-2 cluster that I remove and reinstall-no issues yet after 4 years in a dozen cars.

They work well, I just put them in my 66 with a new dual feed speaker in the center of the dash. Just buy the kick panels with out the speakers if you can and install decent speakers-the stock custom...
