It doesn't matter how it happen, but they heated the rod and then installed the pin, you can see that on the fuzzy photo as the rod is discolored. That is the correct way to install press fit pins....

I just did this last weekend, it is pretty straight forward. Pickle fork to separate the joint. Make sure to clock the hoses at the correct angles and check the hoses for any binding or rubbing.
