Do you have the check engine light hooked up? Jumping terminals A and B of the ALDL will flash any codes on the check engine light, and there are codes for prom and ecm faults.

Ah, the cold start injector - that makes sense, and explains why the holes would still be able to be clean. Maybe I will wait until I do a rebuild to pull the intake and do some grinding after all....
