as for the real question at hand, the later tail lights fit the earlier body, but i believe there is some trimming of the plastic tabs (sprue?) so as to get the depth right so they sit correctly.

i had mine done by the place in Virginia as well. they indicated that excessive heat can discolor the finish as can certain engine cleaners. they recommended wiping only with water dampened cloths....
