Why is my Stingray about to Stall?!!

Hi Guys,
I was out of town for 2 months and had my Stingray in the garage for that time with alittle more then half a tank of gas...I took it out for the first time today and had a big issue with it...

Where to go to check VIN number!

I just bought my 1971 Corvette Stingray and I'd like to get a history on the VIN number! I've checked a few websites and they can't find it due to the 13 character VIN number, any suggestions? Also...
