Hmmm so if there's no partial VIN then all there is to go on is casting # which isn't serial and date stamp, which could be any engine from that particular day...of course the combination of casting...

They did eventually come out with C5 repros in all kinds of sizes, so if it were me I'd either just get some non-stock wheels or wait for the repros in my sizes.

I'll attest to the value of thinking about "oh s***" situations ahead of time, and practicing if you can. If such a situation arises and I don't know what to do, I tend to freeze up and do nothing....

Yeah the Hanford Device was/is kind of a double-whammy. The added drag slowed the cars down some (safety), and the loss of downforce forced the cars to slow down a bit for the corners (more safety)....
