The car will not run if the EGR is not installed. Huge vacuum leak. It doesn't have to function, just be installed or a blank off plate in it's place.

Every once in a while I can squeak out 18.5 around town but 17.5 is pretty normal. On a flat highway I can manage 26+ with the 3.08.1 rear gear. I'm quite happy with my 90's mpg.

I've said it before, Chevrolet designed the C4 by taking a very hot C3 and putting it in wind tunnel and the wind redesigned the lines of the car. :)
