Mine does the same thing, can go on for days, or an hour.
It stops when I get in the car and start it up.
I guess that's why I haven't been too concerned.
It's just reminding me...

Wow, I have a '78 with nearly the exact same issues.
The headlights work ok, and the engine does not act like it is going to die though.
If I dim the gauge lights until they are off, all the gauges...
