When you say mimics a dead battery ...do you mean it turns over slow?? Could your start be heat soaked?? Could your timing be off?? Both will cause the starter to turn the engine over slowly..

Had the same issue.. It was intermittent... Finally narrowed it down to the switch.. Took it off and cleaned it with contact cleaner.... All has been good for over a yr now..
