Check the firewall connector. I had a few green terminals & gauge sat on 0 . I cleaned the terminals & guage now works as it should.

Mine did the same thing , the plastic gears that drive the minute & hour hands broke. It was that way when I purchased the car , so I’m not sure what caused it.

Loosen the straps on the overflow tank & tie it ( the tank) off to the side . Replace battery. I’ve done it , it’s not that hard.
