You might want to disconnect the speedometer...

You might want to disconnect the speedometer cable.
That really frees up the movement of the dash panel the headlight switch is mounted on.

I found the problem. The NEW headlight switch I installed had a loose terminal connection.
Replaced the switch and everything works. Lesson here was don't ASSUME a new switch is good.
