I use 800 dry, there is a chart somewhere to convert wet to dry, it's not an exact crossover. I have a roll of 800 da paper I use for various things in collision work so thats what I use.

Yes, dust base to coverage over sand through, then clear entire hood that has been sanded in 800 dry. Trying to melt clear in on a hood is tricky and will show down the road.
