I'm a solid lifter person and have always used either GM or Herbert Cams Lifters with no issues at all. Chet Herbert makes his own as well cams at a cheap price, I think his son Doug just markets...

a quick check would be to open the valve covers...

a quick check would be to open the valve covers and ensure proper lash.....and see if the pushrods rotate when the engine is at idle....if not then you need a further inspection.:cool:
