I have some custom hub and wheel centric adapters on my C4 used with drag radials no issue so far. Drifters use adapters a lot as well. Cast are the ones to avoid, billet is the way to go.

In my opinion it's more than just manifold out/collector size. For example Castheads claims that a y-pipe will make better ave power with manifolds, dyno tested they said. And I agree with that.

I've always read to make sure the tips are past the body. Also a cheap bullet type muffler for a resonator supposedly helps, like on ebay or amazon. Picked up a few to test out someday.
