Had a similar problem with the blend door not working in one direction and it turned out to be the transistors, not the resistors.
They are NPN and 2 of them in the programmer box (pictured above)...

If all connections are tight, the alternator itself may be the problem.
I would replace the alternator and see if the problem goes away. If not, it might be some ground issue in the dash itself.

I would change it every 3 years at least regardless of using the green stuff (silicate) or DexCool (OAT) based coolant. Dexcool is not all that long life after all....too many reports of sludge.
