Yep, that works. I've done it on every cold start for a couple of years and have never had another repeat of the 1-2 shift flair.

A week before this thread I had a close call via blind spot. I ordered both mirrors from Sandyeggo Designs mentioned here and problem solved. No more blind spot. Didn't take long to get used to them....
